About Me
With 18 years of experience in counseling, I consider the therapeutic relationship to be deeply personal. I will respect your life choices and help you connect with your inner truth and guidance. My educational background includes an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Ohio University and a Master's in Counseling from UNC Charlotte. After graduate school, I had the privilege of working with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, providing trauma therapy. In 2008, I embarked on my journey into private practice, driven by a desire to forge deeper connections with the individuals I serve. That same year, I earned my 200-hour yoga teacher certification, recognizing the importance of understanding the mind-body connection to enhance my knowledge.
I am proud to be certified as a Level 2 Trauma-Conscious Yoga Therapist, this involves an evidence-based approach to integrating mind and body in nervous system regulation. I am also a Level 1 iRest practitioner. iRest is a meditation practice rooted in the tradition of Yoga Nidra. iRest helps you navigate each moment with a sense of unshakable peace and resilience, even during difficult times.
I have completed both level one and two of Resilience and Trauma Recovery training. My experience in teaching yoga extends to studios, eating disorder treatment, and grief and loss centers. Perhaps most importantly, I maintain my own dedicated yoga and meditation practice, serving as my unwavering guide and source of deep connection.
On a personal note, my husband and I relocated to Asheville in 2013 with the goal of fostering a deeper connection with nature and slowing down the pace of our lives. Our greatest teachers are our daughter and our sweet dog. I continue to work on the art of slowing down, being present, and nurturing gratitude and patience with myself. I, like all of us, am a work in progress
